George
I've been at my place of work now for 10 years. It's not all been rosy, infact there has been some really shitty times including some really fucking shitty people.
However there have been some cracking times and i've been fortunate enough to meet some cracking people.
Memories do play forever in your mind you know. I'll never forget Vic.My man mountain of a friend who took me under his wing,in and out of work, who played an important part in a chapter in my life. There are also many others i could say thankyou to but today i was not feeling too good.
In 1999 i was on a training course for work. It lasted 2 weeks and the trainer was a wonderful scottish man. his name was George Rogerson. I knew George from previous courses.
He knew everything ,and i mean everything there was to know about our industry. He was a true mans man. With this he was also a great laugh.
I was getting married on the Saturday after the last day of our course. George made sure we finished early then duly informed us " right you lot lets go into town for a few wee ales".
Well George paid for these wee ales whilst we played pool and had a laugh. I was shortly dropped off at home thinking that i thoroughly enjoyed my time with my mates and also with George.I can't remember thanking him but i can remember George wishing me good luck.
Not a converstaion regarding OHL Trainers passed by without me saying "God , that George Rogerson was an amazing bloke".
Others at our places would stick to this agreeing, What a lovely man.
Well i was told this morning that George was horrifically taken from his family yesterday evening. I spoke to his friend of 31 years Brian. I was so sad for him. George was killed in a car accident returning home to his wife. I don't know if he had kids,i don't know how old he was. All i know is that he had a wife and that he was the best fucking trainer i,or anybody on the ECML knew.
He was also my friend for every course of his i attended.
We all miss you George and we'll see you on that training span in heaven.Make sure you have a harness for Ian Caroll to use,ha ha.
